Identify studs, copper pipes, and live AC wires before you drill with the HW-710 Wall Scanner, turning wall material into a confident map instead of a guess. Five scan modes feed a single clear LCD readout, delivering precise guidance with zero guesswork.
WallSight — Spot Studs, Pipes & Live Wires Before You Drill - Souliia
The HW-710 is engineered to locate wood joists behind thick walls down to 1½" deep, offering three depth settings—½", 1", and 1½"—to handle plaster, double drywall, or paneling without the misleading signals that plague basic finders.
A dedicated AC mode flashes a warning icon and triggers an audible alarm the moment current is detected, so you can shut off power before drilling. In addition, metal mode detects both ferrous and non-ferrous metals up to 38 mm, revealing copper pipes and rebar hidden in concrete.
Inside the housing lies a wideband sensor array that reads density and electromagnetic changes through drywall, plaster, and concrete. As you slide the scanner, the LCD displays a live signal bar that fills as you approach an object, then centers with a red dot the moment you’re dead-on. A percentage readout indicates how close you are to the true center, so a single mark is enough to drill.
It auto-calibrates the instant you power it on against the wall. No twisting, no recalibration every few inches, just power, select, and slide.
What you actually get is a tool that makes it practical to locate three essential targets: studs, live wires, and metal pipes or rebar—so heavy mounts, shelves, and TVs can go up with confidence.
Three steps to a clean hole, every time:
- Power on with the scanner flat against the wall—the auto-calibration completes in about one second.
- Choose the required mode (stud depth, AC, or metal) and watch the mode icon illuminate on the LCD.
- Slide horizontally; when the signal bar fills and the CENTER indicator activates (red dot plus audio), mark the spot and drill.
| Feature | HW-710 Wall Scanner | Cheap Magnetic Stud Finder | Knock-and-Pray |
|---|---|---|---|
| Finds wood studs | Yes, up to 1½" deep | Only if a nail is near the surface | Sometimes |
| Detects live AC wiring | Yes, audio + LCD alarm | No | No |
| Spots metal pipes & rebar | Yes, up to 38 mm | No | No |
| Center-lock readout | LCD with depth % | Blinking LED at best | None |
| Works on plaster & concrete | Yes | Hit or miss | No |
Will it work on plaster or lath walls? Yes—the 1½" stud mode is designed for thicker plaster and double drywall; skip the ½" mode on those surfaces.
How accurate is the live wire detection? The AC mode senses currents in standard household wiring through drywall up to about 51 mm deep; treat it as a safety check to complement turning off breakers, not a substitute for electrical shutoff.
Does it require recalibration each time you move it? No. It auto-calibrates when powered on against the wall, so you can slide and scan without redoing calibration.
Will it scratch a freshly painted wall? The rear pads are soft and non-marring; slide gently and avoid pressing hard, even on satin or eggshell finishes.
What batteries does it use? It runs on standard batteries with a low-battery indicator on the display; batteries may not be included.
Drill Safe — Or Get Your Money Back: If the HW-710 doesn’t locate hidden features on the first pass, return it within 30 days for a full refund, so you can hang your bracket without risking wall damage or a wasted drill.
